I have made use of Google maps a number of times in past as part of lectures and class exercises, and they certainly represent a good means of engagement, as part of a vle lesson plan. Found this really useful introduction to creating media rich resources.

Running The Survey

The initial trial took the form of a paper based exercise that allowed us to evaluate and apply changes to what would become the final electronic form delivered through our Moodle vle. Not to my own surprise I also learnt a great deal from the whole exercise in how to write questionnaires.

Trying out Lams

The idea was for them to see this as an out of class exercise that utilised both forums and chat sessions. As this was a first, I did only get partial success and today we got together in class and carried out exercise in a more formal environment.

Week four and going well

The whole exercise is in fact proving to be extremely worthwhile; the actual sessions themselves are to introduce our staff to converting their desktop materials written in Word and then showing these can be enriched with media and assessments. This week is going to be number four in the rollout of the eLearning training.

With this in mind one of my principle targets will be to utilise LAMS as a means of presenting graded exercises beyond the class room. One of my insites of recent times has been the realisation, mainly from Moodle logs, that students do not seem to be engaging beyond college as much as they could.

Creating a Moodboard

It seems that you can also invite up to 10 friends along to make the whole exercise a more social experience. The application provides you with a canvas to create your board on, the facility to upload your own images and you get some basic editing tools, and to save the final version as a jpeg.

When the idea of gathering this information was first proposed, the general suggestion was that it would be very much a paper, though be it electronic paper, exercise. A result of all this was for me to get back to the PC create some more categories in the questionnaire.
