Im no Facebook super-user and I havent experienced a huge time suck from it, but I suppose its possible. Cammy, Im just a "lite" Facebook user, but I have seen profile pages that list their workplaces with commentary about how horrible their company is, or how much they hate their job. Im literally not a gamer. Im not sure how I got into games.but I think it had something to do with PONG. But Im so lost at sea for the most part in these environments. But Im no gamer. This hasnt gotten onto my radar before -- Im not sure if there are any state-funded online programs in Massachusetts. As I recall, she has two kids in high school who are taking online courses, and thats what got her interested in ID and e-learning. And its increasingly being funded as part of the U.S. public school system.

Im concerned that women will be excluded if such a focus is put on gaming skills -- or at least the gamer label. Dona was an early Atari employee (and the only woman at the time) and spoke about women in the gaming industry and provided some specific ideas for getting girls and women more involved in games and gaming. than Gamer 4.0.

Im a practical person at heart; not a theory-based one). The reason Im so keen on the idea of PLEs (not as a system, but as a set of tools and skills) is that I think it puts power back into peoples hands, rather than leaving them at the mercy of organizations who dont really have their best interests in mind. Brainstorms and project ideas go in the wiki. Im a Word power-user and love all the little tricks and shortcuts. My sense is, theyll learn a lot and come into that meeting with great ideas. Folks I have talked to resist the idea of the wiki -- they think wikipedia, they think "amateurs" trashing your content.
