I usually have between five and ten tabs open -- my rather imperfect way of maintaining my reading list. A place where I process thoughts and ideas, record notes of online sessions, and seek advice. PPT is among my must haves as well, good for concepts and I have tinkered in Articulate to produce some solid Interactive Job Aids (IJA).

Feature sets – they have to be more than PPT to Flash or add an audio clip and video clip to the course. That said, for a freebie -and yes, I said freebie (open source) it has a lot of power. In fact, most folks have no idea that there are other authoring tools out there beyond Articulate, Captivate and Camtasia. .

This manufacturing process training course was originally delivered as a four hour plus death-by-PowerPoint classroom session (if you could see the original PPT source content, youd begin glazing over within a few slides). That said, I think the rubber duck idea sounds great. I really like the ideas youve put forward.

There is a product on the market called Adapt Learning which is an open source authoring tool for mobile built on framework from Kineo.
