Two minuses for me though is lack of mobile apps (everyone does mobile responsive) and is miss on stronger analytical data and data visualization, which while the system does provide solid reporting and analytics, the way the world is heading in the corporate space, a system needs more to match it.

What about PENS or some other compliance standard? Unless you must have PENS or one of the other compliance standards, it is not needed. PENS was created by AICC as an alternative to SCORM 2004, 3rd edition. . You can use your own system – provider or locate one and use it with the systems. Why is it Important?

In the end, no matter what type of security you setup, if someone really wants to cheat even with a 360 web cam that the vendor provides, it can be done. Most tend to be proprietary, but I have seen a few that are SCORM/AICC and yes even PENS. Key differences: CLSs have reports and provide some analytical data – RCATs do not.

If you are wondering if the “publish once to all” means the vendor is using PENS, the answer is no, they are not using PENS. . However, I think every SaaS authoring tool vendor should use PENS. .

You simply hook it up to a computer and it provides a Kinect-like experience. no SCORM, AICC or PENS – however, I am now seeing a few vendors offer PENS (created by AICC back in 2005, but slowly gaining traction). They plan on launching a version next year on smartphones. Non compliant – i.e Peer review.

Don”t fall for the trap that someone has been doing e-learning since 93 or less, because what they are actually stipulating is that they provided CBT and whatever at that point. . The term does not apply to anyone who provides training in the B2B or B2C space, IMO (In my opinion), rather it focused on internal training or learning.

No pens, no notepad, nothing, except for a cheap plastic bag like you get at the grocery store and their planner. . I couldn’t get a sense on whether or not they provide training (free) on how to use the product, nor have materials in HTM1, that someone could refer to, as a form of training and support. I should mention that WOLC is heavily geared towards the corporate space (which includes non-profits, B2B, B2C, training providers seeking platforms, associations, etc.). I think I saw two vendors giving out a shot to win an iPad, one was offering the opportunity to win Rum (that was cool), but pens ruled the day. .
