This table shows compatible publish and playback versions for these codecs. The embedded videos are played back from within SWF, so you can create your own components to control the video playback.

I have a Captivate project loaded from MS Power Point, linked with high fidelity and slide duration, set to advance automatically. When looking at the whole project, it looks fine, all animation works. This occurs in the swf version and in the slide preview on Captivate, strangely not in the HTML5 version.

Recently one of my colleagues upgraded Captivate to the latest release, 10.0.1.285, and since then whenever she publishes to HTML5 and then launches the index file the project starts and pauses on a blank slide that is NOT part of the project. The problem went away.

The initial version of Kodu required the Xbox 360 console but now Kodu is available as a free download for your Windows PC as well. Gordon, a flash runtime written in javascript, is an interesting project that recreates the Flash Player into svg using javascript from a flash source swf file. This is an interesting direction.

My friend and Captivate guru, Marnie Bristow , tells me this glitch has been fixed in the latest version of the software. When I published my learning object in Captivate, the software produced a swf file, an accompanying skin, an html host, and a javascript source. Resize the project in Captivate; or. Step 3: Publish it.

Beware: the embedded movie is a SWF, you need a browser with enabled Flash Player to watch that movie. Everything worked fine for SWF output also in later versions. It is this second part that is no longer functional in recent versions for HTML output. However it is now partially broken for HTML output in CP9 and CP2017.

I first thought this to be a limitation of HTML5 (first article was for SWF output) and tested it out. It is important to know that I am using version 11.0.1.266 (CP2019), Windows version and tested in Chrome/Edge and Firefox. I have asked to update to the recent version 10.0.1.285 but didn’t have any feedback yet.

In previous versions of Captivate, for this feature to work, Flash needs to be installed on the same machine from where you want to export. This will show a Export dialog in Captivate unlike the earlier versions which show an Import dialog inside Flash. Clicking on export will export the Captivate project to a FLA file.

Overlay slides in Interactive Video, both the content and KC slides have similare events to those in a normal project. However the events for the hotspots in a VR project or 360 image/video are more limited as are the overlay Quiz slides in a VR project. A trial version is available. Widget to extend events.

I’ve used GSAP within Captivate to a small extent and I really like the flexibility it gives to create smooth and unique animations pretty quickly (downside being you have to publish the Captivate project each time you want to preview it). Initially I thought this might have to be exported as a SWF).

Captivate 2017 added a new workflow for developing responsive projects: Fluid Boxes. It doesn’t mean that the existing workflows to make projects accessible with all devices are no longer important. If you want to publish a project to be accessible from any device, you have to ignore the still available Captivate SWF output!
