Digital Instructional Media Design 101- Storyboarding

Upside Learning

As designers of electronic learning and information, we often find ourselves confronted by the purpose of the learning. Our storyboards and design documents need to be an extension of this intent. Design documentation may not be about solving problems, but it can help avoid them by providing an elegant way to document design intent.

Quality is a subtle distinction

Clark Quinn

I had the (dubious) pleasure of picking up an award for a client at an eLearning awards ceremony a number of years back. There’s been some apt criticism of the whole awards industry thing overall, but it did give me a chance to see what was passing as award-winning content. And I was dismayed. One memorable example had traditional HR policy drill-and-kill tarted up into a ‘country fair’ theme.

Writing & Grammar: Do You Know Your Dashes?

The Logical Blog by IconLogic

by Jennie Ruby. I was helping a group of editors develop Word macros to correct punctuation problems when I was stymied about a punctuation mark they spoke of: the "double-dot." Seriously though, I have always maintained that I blog for myself. If someone else can draw any value from my musings, that’s a bonus. Even if someone disagrees with me, that’s fine too, so long as they remember their manners.

by David R. Mankin.   PDF files, by their very nature, are a sophisticated, highly flexible and capable file format. I have been asked by dozens of clients and students over the years to show them how to export a PDF to a Microsoft Word document.   In the early days of Acrobat, it wasn't necessarily the simplest thing to do. While these are relatively easy to measure, the question we should be asking ourselves is, “Is this what we want to know?” Are we measuring these indicators because we can or because they truly measure what matters?
