A good aggregator (like Stephen Downes) will get me the info I need so Im not missing the really juicy stuff. A study is cited in which researchers looked at brain activity while subjects learned how to build a structure with Tinker Toys. I like how you really extended the metaphor, Cammy, and I most definitely agree that instructional design isnt brain surgery. I like the analogy Michele Martin uses: instructional design as cooking. Im definitely hooked -- you might say, "immersed" or "addicted". So last night I stayed up until 1:00 playing Zelda: The Twilight Princess. I had to force myself to stop. The graphics are amazing. The controller is so fluid and much more intuitive than the Nintendo 64. I just played in the first village last night. We got Wii!

Nevertheless, their voices are deeply etched in my brain, and I could have picked any of them out of a lineup if we were going by voice and not visual. If I notice Im losing someones attention in class, Ill instantly make direct eye-contact, maybe raise an eyebrow, and start talking directly to that student, and most of the time.

If youre providing SMEs with the templates, Im not sure theyll be altering them.
