The reason I do this is because I can identify the links on the slide. But if I create a shape just for the link, then I know that there’s a link on the slide. In the example from the template, I created a circle that extended way past the borders of the slide. This is the annual Articulate users’ conference hosted by Leeds.

I also like variations on the slide layouts. Theme Gallery : simple, yet clean layout with a few different slides from which to choose. 10 Question Pop Quiz : comes with a classroom background slide and the pop quiz structure’s a good way to learn to use the selection pane and click and reveal triggers in PowerPoint.

Some design tidbits: Another colleague, Cliff Atkinson, who wrote Beyond Bullet Points , suggests taking most of your bullets off the slides entirely. For the same reason, you shouldnt project a complicated slide or diagram as one complete unit. Instead, put them into your Notes. This is all basic ID stuff, I suppose. Take the Survey!

The biggest thing I would like to see is that we add some voiceover on just about all of the slides. on just about all slides. They think the program isnt working when they come across a slide that doesnt have v.o. The slide/screen itself can focus on key points and or use diagrams. I can sure relate to this!

I laugh, remembering Art History 101 in college -- a darkened lecture hall, slides projected on the wall, me falling asleep in spite of myself, sometimes even snoring. The interface is nothing exciting and somewhat counter-intuitive, but its balanced out by the beauty of the artworks themselves. Check out the Mona Lisa for an in-depth study.

Broken Co-Worker (Articulate Storyline). Option 1: Create Master Slide Panels & Layouts. Use PowerPoint’s master slides to create the layouts. And then when you’re ready to go, select a layout for the slide and add your content. Then apply it to a slide and add content within the panel.

As a rule of thumb, once I get three or more slides with the same information, I try to put as much as I can on the master slide so it’s easier to edit and maintain. When you build your slides, try to determine what’s persistent and then add as much of the persistent content to the master slide.

This file demonstrated common issues with many PowerPoint slides: Inconsistent use of design elements. The subject matter expert created boxes on the slides. None of this was a factor in the original slides. None of the content was created using the slide master. Step 2: Create a Design Slide.
