The RCAT (rapid content authoring tool) market continues to be healthy with nothing to slow it down – uh, except maybe one thing (more on that later). I am still surprised on how vendors who are offering assessment only tools are staying in the game. Perhaps their audience is unaware of LMSs who offer assessment tools.

I don’t know about you but I am starting to get tired of the PowerPoint haters. I go to a lot of conferences and there’s always someone trashing PowerPoint. They’ll throw in the usual, “it’s not PowerPoint but the presenter&# disclaimer and then go on a 45 minute anti-PowerPoint rant.

Someone did the instructional design, someone else worked on graphics, and then we had a programmer who built the courses in Authorware or some other application. Transitions, Animations, Views – I am fine using it once, but again, new product-new version, so why I am still seeing PowerPoint within this product to such a point, that TAV are exactly the same as in PPT? If you are creating a product geared towards ID and e-learning developers it should not be as easy as using PowerPoint.
