Back when I first started developing e-learning courses, I used Macromedia's Authorware. Over the years, I have used ToolBook, Trainersoft, and even Dreamweaver with Coursebuilder. Dreamweaver was not created for people to build courses in, rather it was created for people to build web sites and other web related solutions. Brought down by the tool or tools, another retorted back. Content that once was king in the e-learning, more specifically with use in any LMS was dead. I've seen the Content Authoring Research Report from the eLearningGuild that suggests what tools are being used in 2005 and it suggests that most content is being authored using fairly traditional tools such as Flash, PowerPoint, Dreamweaver, Captivate, Lectora. embedded based on other tools or add-ins.
