One of the NSF funded organizations, Wisc-Online has created a large database of online, multimedia learning objects on dozens of topics. These objects can be used by other organizations. Currently they have 2093 objects online and about 90 under development.

On the other hand, most learning experiences begin with learning objectives which provide the learner no mystery or intrigue or suspense. They give you the answer “You will learn 3 things about…” The learning objectives tell the learner what to expect. They are not engaging.
