Like many of you, I was surprised to find out that Skillsoft is in the process of acquiring SumTotal. The reason for the acquisition at least from a press release and information on the purchase (and available for viewing on the Skillsoft site), screams of HCM (Human Capital Management). In fact, each had a separate department.

It is the same way with learning systems, and yes, e-learning. Sure in some cases it did poorly, but it wasn’t because the idea wasn’t sound, it was due to the way the learning was presented. The LMS market takes a beating all the time. An analyst jumps on board and now the doom of the LMS is here.
