In the early 2010’s, I remember talking to Saba, who told me privately they say themselves as a performance management system, while publicly pushing themselves as an LMS. If the core is around performance or talent management, then, no you are not in the learning system space (definitions). Bottom Line.

I have always seen then as talent/performance management platform which was becoming more of a HCM and this only re-confirmed it. A few years back I had a call with Saba and in the call they told me that 63% of their customers were using their platform as a talent and performance management system and not as a LMS.

The exception would be like performance management which should be an add-on. Bundled options – I’m a big fan of everything is included and if you don’t want it, you can have the vendor turn it off, or you can in some cases. Learner side for content creation.

Short pieces can be delivered by themselves, they can be grouped together to form a searchable performance support knowledge base, they can be reused into that compliance piece that a new hire needs to take, and who knows – you might also be able to use it for customer education and marketing now that is a focused quick hit! I know of one system that offers 360 feedback and performance reviews. . Inquisiq R3 - At one time in my top five up and coming systems (2010), solid performer – Mobile capability. Feathercap - UI is very streamlined nothing that will wow you, but this is a solid performer. AJ LMS - UI is average.
