Im wondering if in the carpentry example if a master carpenter would agree with you? Im still curious about the breakdown in degrees between the corporate and academic sectors. 37% of IDs say "Yes, I do have a formal/advanced ID degree." 63% of working IDS say "Nope. Only 13% of those without a degree say they have ever been denied work as a result.

I think Im somewhat of an anomaly in the field. Maybe Im not an instructional designer at all. My company creates customized course development templates for organizations. Course developers (who may or may not be instructional designers) use Flash to create courses, but they dont need to know how to use Flash at all.
