The numbers have been documented (from a presentation with results from the ASTD Benchmarking Forum) as dropping in implementation from 94% doing level 1, 34% doing level 2, 13% doing level 3, and 3% doing level 4. Powerpoint doesn’t kill people, people do, as the saying goes. That’s not the idea!

If you can step away from the “bullet point” mindset and all of the complaints, you’ll see that PowerPoint’s got a lot to offer those who build elearning courses. It doesn’t need to have that PowerPoint look. PowerPoint offers a pretty good selection of animations that let you mimic a lot of what you see in Flash. Blank screen.

The good news is that there’s a cheater’s way to create the same type of template. Here are the steps to create an elearning template in 30 seconds. Depending on the site you use for inspiration, creating a template can be just a matter of a few seconds. I like to scale them large and small to create different layouts.

Since many people are used to clicking applications on their mobile device screens, create a template that looks like a mobile device screen.
