I think you can just tell by the pop culture factor that you hear podcasts brought up in TV shows and things and that’s when you know a medium is something that’s pervasive in society. The on-demand nature of it is one of the things that makes it particularly appealing, especially versus something like radio.

Now books like " Teachers and Machines: The Classroom Use of Technology Since 1920 " are great at looking at the history of technology (radio, TV, etc) in the classroom but fail to appreciate the classroom itself as a piece of technology, as a tool, as a tool designed to accomplish a purpose. Why this spurs me on should be obvious.
