To ensure that the learning goals of a game, gamification or simulation are met, the first priority is to design the interactive learning event to focus on learning objectives from the beginning and not as an afterthought. The best games, gamification and simulations are not created by accident. Design with interactivity in mind.

Immersive Learning includes the concepts of games, online Simulations and Virtual Learning Worlds. According to the eLearning Guild , over 93% of Guild members report that their efforts to conduct learning in an immersive learning environment produce results that are either somewhat or much better than other forms of rich-skill practice.

Here's guild member satisfaction ratings for tools in the test / quiz category. Adobe Captivate is the easiest way to create professional-quality, interactive simulations and software demonstrations in Adobe's Flash format. They didn't really need tracking of user responses, instead they wanted them to be fun.

With the script now 1/3 complete and with a session agreed at the eLearning Guild's DevLearn 2007 in San Jose in November, my mind is turning to how I can convert this script into a half-decent piece of e-learning to show all those folks who come along to take a look.
