In the webinar, I brought up how LMS vendors were themselves perpetuating the myth of the bad things of social media (which is a necessary component of social learning), so, rather than identify the facts and data to potential clients who are concerned about social media and thus social learning, they instead do not include it in their system.

What is true is that you can view the courses you have created on any mobile device that supports HTML5 including the iPad series. . Even if the product is a desktop product all you need to do is upload the course to your own web server, use the vendor’s web server or via a LMS. This can be via. Your mobile web browser.

That said, across the board for all Big Dog systems, their social learning functionality was weak. The product is Flash based, which is nice, but lack of mobile optimization for the iPad. I’d love to know how you can use this with the iPad and Safari? I couldn’t see how they could call themselves a social learning platform, because it seemed more to be an online authoring system or if you want to stretch it, a hybrid next gen lite LMS. Another irritation is that it saves it as a.flv file. Bottom Line.
