Again, my LMS back in the early days met that requirement head on, and offered an advertising component along with some social learning functions (that some vendors are adding now). Yep, back in 2002, I had such a system. Users loved it. One stop shop.

For example, I saw Workramp the other day, and despite them having a lot of clients, they lacked any social (besides a discussion board), any machine learning, and the front end was dated, badly. Hence, the logic behind that strategy makes no sense. It’s an additional cost. I’m a big fan of Instilled.

I don’t buy into the amazing social angle they love to pitch, because frankly it isn’t so amazing, it is standard in so many ways. An additional odd part is they also push the content first strategy. Plays quite well in Multi-Tenant (aka Extended Enterprise), SMB is its strong suite and mid-market. Good for Enterprise. .

Another vendor (again, nameless) told me that although externally they were a LMS, internally (after I repeatedly asked them) were aiming more towards the TM market. After all, there is money in those hills! Or workplaces.
