When I work in Storyline, I often use the TTS voices for the alpha version. That automatically generates captions that can be retained when replacing the audio with real voices, but again, the captions break awkwardly. I use Camtasia myself for screencasting and video editing/creation.

A screencast is a recording of your computer screen to which you add an explanation by voice- combining it into a video. A screencast is a classical way of explaining computer programs and software. You might for instance explain via a screencast how to start a twitter account. Can I make a screencast?!

This year at Screencast Camp , things were pretty low key for me until it actually started. Audio Best Practices. Nothing turns off viewers faster than a video with bad audio. Unless you have a higher end camera that has a built-in shotgun mic, you are going to want consider recording audio separately from your video. They do a great job of picking up only the audio that is close by. Selecting an Audio Recorder.

Tom’s also a screencasting pro, and he frequently puts video content on his YouTube channel or on Screencast.com. It’s just a different medium and opportunity for all students to have a voice. My next venture will be to use Snagit to record audio feedback on important assignments for particular students. Watch this first.
