Lots of reports or a quick dashboard will key data points and a couple of graphs? People like right to the point data and information, and there is nothing worse then having to go find it then generate a report that contains an overview on where things stand. Equally, for the universities whose faculty are placing these courses online – in reality, there are fees involved – the faculty’s salary – since it the creation of these courses equates to time and a faculty member isn’t getting paid extra (as far as I’m aware), so money is at stake.

I’m not sure if it is going to take a predication by the late Edgar Cayce or Nostradamus to see the need to have native apps for people to download with the numerous m-learning, Mac store or Windows 8. Interestingly, a large portion of LMS vendors have not optimized their products for the iPad/ iPad2 and with the exception of two content authoring tools, HTML5 capabilities, specifically the ability to output a course in HTML5 does not yet exist. I know of one vendor who gives end users the flash files after building the course.

A good vendor will have what is sort of called a “sniffer&# , whereas the solution can identify whether it is a Blackberry or Iphone or whatever and automatically switch to the appropriate product.
