Bookmark feature is interesting, but with this one item – Saba’s past UI issues appear – too bad, it has an spin on the bookmark concept.epub file upload that worked, which is rarely seen in any file acceptance of other social learning systems and even the majority of e-learning solutions to begin with.

Let’s say though you do not want to add the specific site in your LMS, etc. Examples: Post your status update in Linkedin and it appears in Twitter. Facebook like features?

What has always amazed me are number of e-learning vendor web sites whose design looks like it came from 1995 when Netscape ruled the land.

You can use either your own 3rd party content authoring tool and upload it into the “Cloud&# and then wherever you are, output either to your LMS, or onto Moodle or even WordPress (they have a plug in for that) OR place the course in Facebook or nearly any solution that accepts APIs. In social networking alone, over 385 sites.

Despite overall consumer demand (not just within e-learning) for tablets, and numbers showing that tablets are outselling notebooks, e-learning vendors as whole are sitting back and waiting. APIs of various social sites with Linkedin growing at a quick pace. Standards are Facebook and Twitter.

There are enough vendors who are not going into the widget space, but are enabling the integration possibilities of APIs, which are really offers a powerhouse potential (a future emerging technology topic). Forecast: More vendors offering the integration capability of APIs. Linkedin tied into Twitter is an example of APIs.

One vendor called their system for the longest time a “micro-learning platform” Now? Another vendor calls their system nearly every keyword for SEO purposes (you can see it on their web site). I am constantly updating the types that exist, which would be covered under learning systems.

One vendor asked if you wanted to learn more about their product and sent you to their help desk to notify them of errors or issues with their system (hmm, not likely to buy one from these guys). Over 90% of LMS vendors had their sites available only in English; so the potential customer could not view it in any other language.

One vendor is focused only on SaaS products including social media. For example, a lesson topic could be on Linkedin, and each lesson tied to a specific area within Linkedin. If I am a vendor, do some legwork and at least get the client’s colors and logo, by visiting their web site. . E-Learning 24/7.

Reality: StumbleUpon generated more traffic in the last two quarters then Facebook. Many companies ban access to social media sites, especially Facebook.
