Most elearning courses I see are info-centric and just push content out. Instead they’re questions to get the learner to reflect on the content. In addition, the process of having to create engaging questions forces us as course developers to put the content into a context that’s relevant to the learner. Details to follow.

Essentially the tools create multimedia content regardless of how they’re designed. So don’t pay attention to the content, just look at how I used the tool to build a mini elearning scenario. In both examples above, we used the blank slide feature for most of the content and then added a multiple choice question to do the branching.

A lot of rapid elearning content finds its roots in repurposed classroom slides. A great way to get out of the PowerPoint look is to create screens that hold content in different ways. So a good way to rework the screens (and get rid of bullet points) is to think of different types of display screens you can use as content holders.

Feel free to replace the content with your own if you need a quick interactive module. When you build your slides, try to determine what’s persistent and then add as much of the persistent content to the master slide. This lets me use the title area as a way to describe the slide, but not have that content appear in the actual slide.

When it comes to presentations, it’s a blank slide waiting for content. But in an elearning course, the slide is for content and all of the real estate is valuable. I tell my clients that if they have any PowerPoint content to give it to me as is. As far as they know, they’re just handing off content. See the demo above.
