I thought first around something like the Truth they don’t want you to know, then realized that some vendors would push back and say that isn’t true, which gets back to the original statement. There are going to be salespeople who do not even work for the vendor. Are there exceptions absolutely.

Personally a vendor can call their system whatever they want, but there are a few factoids to remember about micro-learning. Cumbersome? Not so much. You tell me, is that a good thing?

Normally, I wouldn’t provide a specific breakout, say Big Dog or Small Dog, but people ask me whom I like or dislike, etc. A really good EE system, offers this and for those who just want the standard LMS, provides these features too, without missing a beat.

One competitor purchased a VLP as a key component, SAP purchased SuccessFactors, a recruiting system initially turned HCM, who had acquired Plateau, a strong but awful UI/UX LMS. SuccessFactors constantly stated they would invest heavily into Plateau and initially, vast improvement was to be found. Yes, a two-time nominee.

How a vendor of this size and quality can have this business approach in this day and age is beyond me. They understand the value of selling to training providers and clients going B2B. The user interface is slick – way better than the days of Plateau – which some people still call it – uh, its not.

True, HR at some companies provide “training”, but I have found it is always better to have the two entities as separate departments. Oracle then followed suit by acquiring SuccessFactors who had acquired Plateau in the past. The same applies when training falls under Human Resources. If I was them, I know I would.

What really bothers me more so, is when certain learning system vendors tell me they do not offer social or NexGen functionality because their clients either do not want it or because of security concerns by the client. But there are vendors who do. I mean it screams Plateau and Knowledge Planet. Buy a book (e-book works). .
