Learning Circuits' Big Question for May is "So what can, should, or will, we offer the digital generation by 2015?" We are already seeing the impact of social media and informal learning, but we will see it blend immensely with both classroom and e-learning. Much of which will be courtesy of open source projects.

In the ASTD Learning Circuits blog this month, they comment on the fact that, in many organisations, learners are reaching outside of the organisation to enhance their learning experience, through social networking and other media. Why do so few Americans have passports and score so poorly in geography? The barriers are not that great.

The March Big Question on the Learning Circuits Blog asks why it is that open content initiatives such as the OER Commons and the Open Courseware Consortium haven't had a bigger impact. Social media will not fill the dissemination gap, because most l&d people don't use them, at least not for professional purposes.
