Other pet peeves: Stock photos with watermarks. Ron Swanson’s party dance takes us in to design systems, and Mel demos several examples of these, such as Trello’s Nachos design system. Mine is autoplay videos because I don’t need your videos foisted upon me. Ads with the fake Xs. Mel really knows her stuff!

Photos are great because they have a depth and richness that’s not easy to manufacture in clip art or vector images. In the first demo, I use it as a title screen. When we shoot our own photos they typically don’t look as nice as those done by professionals. You’re also not limited to using the entire photo.

I don’t like that they lack an extensive set of digital assets including stock photos as part of their solution. I like vendors who will show me a full demo, where I can ask a lot of questions. I do not like vendors who think sending a pre-recorded video demo they recorded will suffice. As for on-going training?

I always ask for ballpark estimates (aka as street pricing), when considering a system, before I book a demo (and after I give them some info) to see if we should continue. for that demo.
