TechSmith recently announced an update for Camtasia from version 2019 to version 2020.    In the image below notice that I've added some media to the Camtasia Timeline. Gaps between Timeline objects aren't ideal, and I have two gaps as indicated by the orange annotations in the image.

After adding a video asset to the Timeline in Camtasia, it's likely you'll want to freeze a specific part of the video to allow for other Timeline objects to appear (such as annotations or images).   In the image below, I've added a video to Track 1 on my Timeline.

I received an email from someone who recently attended my TechSmith Camtasia virtual classes. To begin, TechSmith says that "larger videos (in resolution) will dramatically increase file size. " I completely agree with what TechSmith is saying. That is an excellent question! Set your project size right away.

As valuable as many developers viewed the PIP feature, TechSmith dealt away with it in Camtasia Studio 8. However, I never understood why we couldn't just add the image or video onto a different Camtasia Track and avoid the PIP Track. With Camtasia Studio 8, it seems that the good folks over at TechSmith agree with me.

Now, when you encounter one of those pages, we pop up a window that gives you a bit more information about what’s happening, and give you the option to capture the full tab as an image, or to start a screen video recording.

  Fortunately, TechSmith addressed the issue in Camtasia 8 with a feature known as Stitching. In the image below, you can see that I've actually stretched the animation across the stitch itself (something that isn't possible when you're working with splits).    Stitching is enabled by default.

Take Image Buttons for example. You've always been able to insert image buttons in Captivate. Instead, I either use  Smart Shapes as buttons , or I use Image buttons. Here's how you access the new image buttons and, along the way, set Image Buttons as the default when inserting buttons on a slide.

  I'm happy to report that TechSmith has removed my beefs and lowered my coffee consumption.       You can see in the image below that the callout containing the number 1 is interactive. Rendering speeds seem to be at least 50% faster in Studio 8.6

Once a year, TechSmith holds an internal developer conference for the devs to talk about various interests they have. I wanted to implement a proof-of-concept program using vanilla C++ and an open source image library ( png++ , a C++ implementation of libpng ). This is where the “seam” from seam carving comes in to play.
