This collaboration can be achieved using internal social networks or, if you use something like twitter, creating a #hashtag for each goal. The historical reasons for this have been cost of equipment, the high level of skill required to produce it, low bandwidth / slow corporate networks, the cringe-inducing ‘corporate videos’ that we’ve all seen. I find it frustrating, therefore, that we don’t use it more for learning purposes.

People in my wider network usually contact me by phone, Twitter or LinkedIn but not Facebook – I keep that for personal use. Most realtime communications between our team (all of whom are based at different locations) are via Skype which we use for chat, VOIP conference calls and sending files to one another.
