But for me the PowerPoint add-in approach to authoring is an uncomfortable compromise. Yes, you have the familiar PowerPoint interface but all the interactive elements are completely separate and never quite integrate as you'd like. You can import from PowerPoint or Articulate Studio tools if you need to.

I was using DazzlerMax and Authorware, which are superior offerings for creating courses. Studio drove the market to the point of going into Storyline, which is nothing more than a PowerPoint converter. At the time, I hated it. It’s simple to use, creates a course in just a few minutes, and usually, it isn’t very good.

Transitions, Animations, Views – I am fine using it once, but again, new product-new version, so why I am still seeing PowerPoint within this product to such a point, that TAV are exactly the same as in PPT? Compared to building courses in Flash or Authorware, the rapid elearning tools are easy to use. Create a simple 10 slide PowerPoint file. There are a lot of other good books I could recommend, but this is a good start and covers a lot of the basics. Feel free to recommend other good books in the comments section.

PowerPoint – Ability to integrate or use PPT in your courses. Listen, Authorware is dead, so why create a product that is trying to bring it back to life with your own product? I hope it does – especially with SaaS products. I absolutely hate this – as it has damaged the content authoring tool space.

Is it PowerPoint converted to Flash? Macromedia Authorware and similar products. While some could argue that Authorware was a RCAT, I disagree. PowerPoint or Word converted to Flash, instant, virtually no add-ons, i.e. additional learning objects. Microsoft Word converted to Flash? Templates with some learning objects?
