It comes from me talking to vendors, buyers, monitoring the industry all the while taking notes and seeing the trends/patterns appear right before my eyes. Web site stinks = product stinks. What has always amazed me are number of e-learning vendor web sites whose design looks like it came from 1995 when Netscape ruled the land.

Training person. They train you on how to use the product. Ideally you would want a person who is actually a trainer or who has extensive training background. You would think that all LMS vendors would have people whose background is in technical training or heck even training. Assign a tech person to train.

However, you must ask the right questions around support beyond what times do they offer it, what types do they offer, does the administrator receive free training, and so forth. Absolutely.

One vendor called their system for the longest time a “micro-learning platform” Now? Another vendor calls their system nearly every keyword for SEO purposes (you can see it on their web site). I am constantly updating the types that exist, which would be covered under learning systems.

I love going to LMS sites and seeing a list of clients that the vendor lists. Especially the LMS vendors who also create custom content/development. I know of vendors who have lost the deal, because they click on something and it does not work OR it does work and is not populated with fake data. E-Learning 24/7.

Lots of ILT vendors – again, the show has always been geared towards this, so no surprise, in fact, ATD formally known as ASTD has always been heavy on ILT and book things, and just in the last few years has seen a major increase in e-learning vendors, with the past show being nearly 50% – the highest ever.

Overwhelmingly we provide some sort of training or learning to our employees or our customers. . We all do it, I mean that is a huge initial step in designing effective training.

In the past this show has been heavily geared to instructor led training in the corporate space. E-Learning has been minimal. IMO, this is not mobile learning. Time to hit the floor. The Show Angle.

I know there are plenty of people who say that for many training departments, the budget line for a system and its upkeep does not constitute 50% or more, but in reality it often does.
