However, there may be circumstances when the dimensions of the imported PowerPoint slides do not match properly with Captivate slides. The dimensions of a slide in Captivate are defined in pixels, whereas Power Point defines slide size in inches. x 8 inches.

Interface creation, navigation buttons, LMS tracking, and testing abilities are then typically added to the PPT functionality. Using these new tools meant that I had to start using PPT. That leads many users to suppose that Captivate is functioning like Powerpoint, but that is not true. I use the term interactive movie for a fully interactive published Captivate file.

Such a custom theme will save a lot of time later on, if small design changes have to be done. Text will rescale automatically when the screen resolution changes. All the included themes in Captivate have Fluid Boxes on the master slides (the ‘virgin’ Blank theme has them only on the quiz/score masters).

I also used a technique, often labeled as ‘lightbox’: to have the popup stand out of the rest of the content, it will have a semi-transparent cover in the background dimming the rest of the slide.

I mean it is not like something is going to change in just a few weeks for any such product. Feature sets – they have to be more than PPT to Flash or add an audio clip and video clip to the course. What hurts them though is no HTML5 output, which I hope will change. Captivate – Overrated in my book.
