ROI sounds good, it is widely used, but it doesn’t make you into a business partner. And what can show those data points?

As with anything related to the learning system space, it is what the client – the customer wants to use the system for, and not necessarily what the LMS vendor (in this case) is pushing.

It was clear that not even LXP vendors (as a whole) knew – which explained why they targeted L&D, ignoring the other monster in the room, training. On top of all that, the LXP vendors (as a whole) pushed a false pretense that the LXP was vastly different than say an LMS. One of my favorite early vendors was GeoLearning.

Sure a vendor can say we are an LXP, but a LMS too or vice versa. LMS vendors on the other hand are adding LXP features, to counter, and in some marketing may note, learning experience blah blah. . One vendor Linkedin Learning bases it on everyone in the system, regardless if they work at your place or not. E-commerce.

Change of messaging, and the seemingly misunderstanding by vendors that there is a difference between training and L&D. CMI-5 increased interest among vendors, even more so, than on/off synch mobile apps for example. LRSs not being utilized by vendors who have it in their systems. Relying on the client (i.e.
