Google ran an ad that was a screencast! And, that's our Screencast of the Week this week! I'm not sure the technology Google used. Regardless of that, I am happy to see screencasting hit big time. This has to be the world's most expensive screencast (and maybe most viewed screencast?)!

What I’m Listening to: My son and I have been watching Locke & Key which uses music in an interesting way to support the action in the story. 12 BUILDING BLOCKS TO USE LEARNING TECHNOLOGIES EFFECTIVELY. Mirjam Neelon and Paul Kirschner are translating Wilfred Ruben’s 12 strategies for using learning technologies effectively.

One of the influences she has on me is music and she is constantly introducing me to new artists like Mother Mother and the Arctic Monkeys. Sometimes she even likes some of my “old” music. Dropbox Capture is a new free option for screenshots and screencasts. I’m very grateful for the time I get to spend with my daughter.

Also, with mobile technology (and some limitations playing multiple audio tracks) it may create some problems playing the way you intend it. I prefer that over music tracks because it feels like you’re there. I do like to use music tracks. One place where they work well is when I am doing quick screencast tutorials.

Catchy music. Maybe these types of “how-to” screencasts could lower the number of phone calls our administrator takes for simple task questions? What I appreciated was that the session was not about using TechSmith products, although he did show “How to Make Text Dance in Camtasia.”.
