We’ve used Elluminate as our webinar system. Thanks to Scott Skibell , we recorded the sessions directly off the web, i.e., outside of Elluminate and he produced great recordings. Technical Issues. Prepare for technical issues and decide what you will do about them. It has issues with firewalls. This helps a lot.

We decided to mute, similar to what we would do with a big group in a web conferencing tool like WebEx or Elluminate. At the beginning of the meeting, someone asked about the etiquette for using a multipoint TelePresence (“multipoint&# means more than a one-to-one conversation). But I think it was the wrong choice.

When I liveblogged the TCC 2008 conference , I always had the Elluminate presentation up on my primary screen (my desktop computer) and my blog on my laptop. Synergy lets me easily switch focus back to the Elluminate screen to join the backchannel chat or answer a poll; you just move your mouse over to the other screen and type away.

Training providers will have no trouble using Moodle to provide course web sites to support traditional, e or blended solutions. Get a license to Webex, Elluminate or something similar (perhaps even a free web conferencing tool like DimDim) to provide the capability to run live online sessions.

No access to Elluminate. Chat messaging on Elluminate was working OK, but not the best medium for presenting a live talk. I lost Elluminate completely (again). I came in two hours early, tested out the system. The institutional network locked me out. Proxy error or firewall problem. They couldn't resolve it. Maybe semaphore?

One of the interesting outcomes of my recent course - Collaborative Learning Using Web 2.0 Elluminate did not work through several firewalls, so we had to switch to WebEx. Keywords: eLearning 2.0 , Web 2.0 For example, in our course, we found that Yahoo Groups were restricted in some corporate environments.

Even with the advent of user-friendly HTML editors, you still required some IT support and guidance to get something up on a web site that worked and looked half-decent.

We recorded the sessions directly off the web, i.e. outside of Elluminate. No matter how much prompting we provided, people showed up throughout without headphones, not having done an audio check, or with mediocre net connections. I want a system that’s as easy as tuning in a telephone conference call.
