If you choose By author , Word automatically assigns each person who comments on the document a different color. However, if you send the document to someone else, they will see whatever color their copy of Word is set to display. So get control of your balloons, and get a good review of your document.

It seems that he had sent out a document for review. He had carefully followed the procedure for protecting the document for tracked changes, and he had sent it to four people. In Word 2007, that is found under Office Button > Word Options > Popular. On most documents, that tool is grayed out as unavailable.

In training documents and manuals, we often have to tell the reader what will (or would) happen if they do (or did) a certain action. If you press cancel, the document will not be saved. If you pressed cancel, the document would not be saved.

They are writing their corrections on a printout and later making the corrections to their document. I recently taught a group of accountants who each had two wide-screen monitors set up in portrait orientation so that they could view two legal-size documents side by side. Do you fax or email or walk your documents around for review?

Acrobat picked this number up from the desktop publishing software used to create the document. Or do you need a reliable way to get feedback from several people on a document or PowerPoint deck? Are you an eLearning developer who has been tasked with creating an effective voiceover script?

Even if a reviewer of the edited document wanted Power Point to be printed with a space, you would not allow it, because PowerPoint is the proper name of the software. Although newer versions of Word (2007 and beyond) track and link moved text, you still have to first move, then edit the text to see any tracked changes within the moved text.
