Learning Experience Platform – WRONG

I totally dislike the term, “learning experience platform” It really makes no sense, because anything and everything we do, can turn into a learning experience. Secondly, it does a major disservice to any platform that is called by that name. Thus the appropriate name should be Learning Engagement Platforms.

Beta player owners realize the game is up – and decide to cryogenically freeze players until the masses realize what they are missing. DVD players appear in 1994. 2000′s – HD-DVD shows up, so does Blu-Ray. The new kids of the block (please no jokes here) are Video Learning Platforms. Blu-Ray wins.

The LMS – Let’s Set The Record Straight

The vast majority of LXPs today are within a learning platform, or an LMS or as an add-on option to either of those offerings. I should add the Learning Platforms is the second biggest segment because a Personal Dev Platform, or Employee Experience Platform, where learning is the core component, is in essence, a learning platform.

I think informal/formal was designed and suited for ILT, not e-learning, because from the days of Corporate in 2000, you could do informal with your LMS. Folks forget that the LXPs – nearly all offered – formal learning, and today, those upskilling platforms? Upskilling platform. There were systems that offered it.
