Some captions and parts of images might have a dark background when published in CP5 with slide quality set as JPEG. The same project seems to work fine when published with CP4 with the same setting. This is because the mechanism to publish images has changed significantly from CP4 to CP5.

The Back Story: In the previous versions of Adobe Captivate such as 7, 8, and 9 (before updating to version 9.0.2.437) the individual loose files such as png, smartshapes, and text captions from the project’s HTML5 output were stored in the dr folder. There could be hundreds of images in that folder. It will not.

Add a Shape or Image as the text container. In this example, I added a transparent PNG image. The text should be placed on top of the image so that it is visible. Once you have the text positioned as desired on the image, group them together by doing the following. Now save and run the project.

I should note that you don’t have to be particularly creative or a “graphics pro” to make SUI images. Save images as PNGs that preserve transparency. Once I have my bank of images to work with, I start a new Camtasia project. I name my PNGs sequentially, so they stay grouped together in the clip bin.

It's always good practice to try and record, edit and produce at the same dimensions i.e. make sure your clips and images (perhaps png files) are all the same size. Project files are crucial. Back up all your projects on an external HDD or USB stick. Screen size is Crucial. Make it easy for them and they'll use it.

Not All PNG Compressors Are Created Equal. The image on the right is less than 1/2 the size of the original image on the left. If the PNG compressor doesn't optimize color depth, or uses non-aggressive DEFLATE compression it can produce PNG's that are up to 90% bloat. Producing optimized PNG's.
