In deference to all the useful and worthy advice contained in the posts, and there was much, I left my comment on Shaun’s, the gist of which is here: In the secondary sector, home study is almost a necessity for many learners. As learners progress to certificate levels, it's crazy for them not to do home study.
A recent report conducted by the Kaiser Family Foundation has some surprising statistics on youth media usage (well, for me anyway). This is the report overview: 'Generation M 2 : Media in the Lives of 8- to 18-Year-Olds is the third in a series of large-scale, nationally representative surveys by the Foundation about young people’s media use.
However, this article – why studies about multitasking Are missing the point – takes a different stance. Multitasking has gotten bad publicity recently. personally don’t think I multitask – I task switch. Some people can task switch rapidly. Others prefer to focus on one element at a time. Context is king.
Sim designers have to wrestle with the right use of stories and case studies. Find a case study in your topic area, real, theoretical, or aggregated. Identify all of the "right" steps taken by the hero in the case study. Stories" and case studies are highly tricky tools and models for a sim designer. the right answer).
There was a lot of interest in the BT case study and we ran out of question time, but luckily there are plenty of web resources that will allow you to follow up. Here at Learning Technologies 2010 I chaired a fascinating session looking at the learning applications of social media, presented by Jane Hart and British Telecom’s Peter Butler.
