Through my recent post: Social Conference Tools - Expect Poor Results I've received a bit of feedback on being such a pessimist (Dave Ferguson) and a great comment from Sue Waters that made me realize I needed to reframe the problem. But, most of the tools provided are aimed at trying to get everyone in the conference to use the tools.

A while ago I asked in several places if people knew of a text or document editor that would allow real-time collaborative editing during a conference session (or workshop, seminar, course, etc.). Random notes may not be a great effect. Trying to share it at a conference would be a lot harder. It's really a fantastic effect.

One of the reasons I choose the Training conference is that it's not as leading edge as eLearningGuild events, but is a bit more mainstream, corporate than ASTD conferences. I wonder if the steady increase in rapid and the decrease of effective has anything to do with that? Although people may debate this.

At the Tim O'Reilly keynote at the DevLearn conference. Network effects are key to their market dominance. instead it's really systems that harness network effects.
