Resources for Finding Out How Long it Takes to Develop eLearning

Kapp Notes

A question I am constantly asked is “How long does it take to develop…&# you can fill in the rest with Instructor-led training, elearning, simulations, etc. Several people have attempted to answer that question in 2003 I gathered data and information about the times it takes to develop instruction and then my colleague Robyn Defelice and I explored the idea in 2009.

Experiencing eLearning

The eLearning Learning site got a major upgrade a few weeks ago, with a new design that has more of a magazine feel and shows more images. I know many of my readers are new to the field of e-learning, or hoping to transition. eLearning Learning is a great site to get a snapshot of what people are talking about in the field without being as overwhelming as subscribing to dozens of individual blogs can be.

Learn eLearning Audio Production from an Expert

Corporate eLearning Strategies and Development

Are you an eLearning developer struggling with audio? Okay maybe you're not struggling. You're getting stuff done, but you wish your audio was better. I know many of you just farm out the dirty work of audio scripting, producing, recording, publishing.

Performance Management is Broken

The Performance Improvement Blog

What is intended to pass for performance management in too many organizations today is the annual compulsory performance review. To label this a “performance management system” is to give the process much more credit than it deserves. A perfunctory meeting between a manager and employee once a year to review a standard rating sheet that lists competencies and goals that are probably no longer relevant is not a performance management system.

Checklist Manifesto

Clark Quinn

On the advice of Judy Brown , I picked up The Checklist Manifesto , and I have to say it’s a must-read. This is a short, well-written, and mind-changing book. Frankly, it ranks up there with Don Norman ‘s Design of Everyday Things , and that’s saying a lot. Atul Gawande is a medical doctor who’s also an eloquent writer. In the course of his work he’s become interested in reducing errors, and has looked deeply into how to minimize them.

Three Cognitive Benefits of Games

Kapp Notes

One: Challenge and Consolidation – Good games offer players a set of challenging problems and then let them solve these problems until they have virtually routinized or automated their solutions. Games then throw a new class of problem at the players requiring them to rethink their now, taken-for-granted mastery, learn something new, and integrate this new learning into their old mastery.

I’m a big fan of the Powerhouse Museum. In a world in which everyone loves to bang on about emerging technology, relatively few ever do anything about it. The PhM, however, has the guts to give it a go. So I was excited to stumble upon their Augmented Reality browsing of Powerhouse Museum around Sydney app for Apple and Android.
