In June, I attended, and presented at, mLearnCon 2012 , a mobile learning conference put on by The eLearning Guild. There are plenty of posts that cover sessions and keynotes. You can find them all on David Kelly’s great website. I’m going to focus this post on what the week meant to me. Mobile First. recently attended the Penn State Web Conference , which had a heavy focus on accessibility and mobile design. Mobile Learning mLearnCon mLearnCon 2012 mLearning Tin CanI attended a session by Aaron Silvers, Community Manager at Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL). The session interestingly was titled ‘Design of the Possible: Powered by the Tin Can API’. Given below is a short summary of what I gathered from this session and is my first impression. Post the summary I also raise a few questions. Skimming through the session notes and reading about Tin Can, some of these questions have become stronger. For the past month, I have been conducting a survey on learning platforms and specifically learning management systems. . The data shows that what many vendors assume end users want is far from accurate. Too many vendors are focusing on talent/performance management as the next feature/component in their systems. While this makes sense from a revenue standpoint, there is a huge base of people who do not want any TM/PM functionality.
